Are you going to blog about freak’n Weiner??? I can not get over it!?!?! Do these guys have egos so freak’n big that they think they are “above” it all???

I got the message above on Facebook from a good friend Christina, author of the funny and insightful Fridge Demons blog, regarding New York Rep. Anthony Weiner (D), a rising star in politics who was supposedly on his way to becoming New York City’s mayor someday. Well, he fell victim to the power of his penis and women across the country are fuming over yet another powerful man being an unethical jerk.

Instead of continuing to attack Weiner, who is clearly not fit to serve New York or even the bathroom in a New York subway, maybe we gals should be looking at ourselves in the mirror.

Where are all the women in Congress?

This from a Newsweek article last year, right before the elections in November:

There are now 56 Democratic women in the House and 17 Republicans, with 13 Democratic women in the Senate and 4 Republicans. That adds up to 90 seats occupied by women out of the 535 seats in Congress, far less, of course, than their share of the population. After the election, there will likely be eight to 10 fewer women lawmakers.

Yes, we women can sit on the sidelines and throw stones at politicians more interested in their weiners than doing good for society, but this won’t get our country anywhere.

I met a young women yesterday who is studying political science at a local college and she’s getting ready to apply to law school. I asked her if she planned on going into politics and she offered a resounding “no way.” I said, “we need more women in politics” and she countered, “we really do.” But she just didn’t see herself doing that.

Look, it’s not just women who don’t want to, many men with integrity aren’t rushing to enter the fray either. I asked my husband why he wouldn’t do it, and he said, “it’s all about money today. These are the types of people politics attracts,” he said about Weiner.

Well, how will the system change if we don’t try to change it?

I’m not saying women have a corner on integrity, but too often men like Weiner, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bill Clinton, (jeez, I could go on and on) use the power of their penises as a reason for their unethical behavior.

Here’s what Weiner said in his press conference admitting he sent lewd photos of his private parts to young women:

“I don’t know what I was thinking.”

But he does know, “I am not resigning.”

Maybe someone needs to take his seat away from him.
