President Obama doesn’t want the “payroll tax holiday” for workers to end. The administration is calling for an extension of the 2 percent payroll tax break as a way to reinvigorate the economy. “We should extend the payroll tax cut as soon as possible, so that workers have more money in their paychecks next year and businesses have more customers next year,” the president said. Obama also warns that failing to extend the tax break could hamper a moribund economy. “It could mean a million fewer jobs and half a percent less growth.” The payroll tax holiday was included in the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization and Job Creation Act of 2010, signed into law late last year. A Massachusetts start up company called Medicinal Genomics announced late last week that it had sequenced the cannabis genome. Kevin McKernan the head of Medicinal Genomics and former leader of Life Technologies Corp Ion Torrent DNA-sequence program decided to undertake the project after he read a paper in Nature describing the possible tumor shrinking effects of marijuana.
The project, which cost about $200,000, may lead to the development of treatments for cancer, pain and inflammatory diseases said McKernan. H

Of the many things that separate humans from animals, one of the most puzzling is our habit of staying in bad situations when we have the power to leave them. Most animals will run away after being hit, or leave a place where there is no food. The exception to this rule may be in domesticated pets, who have been bred for senseless loyalty. I find this trait charming in my own pets, and I work hard to fulfill my end of the bargain by treating them well. But somehow the same idiotic trust in the power structure does not charm me when I encounter it in a client who is miserable at work.
To put it frankly, I just dont get it. I mean, of course, I get it.
